The Institute of Sound, Communications & Visual Engineers (ISCVE) is inviting applications for the voluntary role of Chairperson of the Standards Committee. This is a unique opportunity to influence the future of our industry, help develop best practice guidance and ensure ISCVE members remain at the forefront of technical excellence.
About the Standards Committee
The Committee plays a vital role in monitoring, reviewing and contributing to national and international standards that affect sound, communications and AV industries. It is a sub-committee of ISCVE Council and consists of a Chair and members proposed by Council.
Scope of the Role – Chairperson Responsibilities
As Chair of the Standards Committee, you will:
- Recruit ISCVE representatives to individual BSi and other Standards committees and advise the Secretariat of their appointments.
- Ensure all ISCVE representatives provide feedback to the Standards Committee Chair following each standards meeting.
- Provide quarterly reports to the ISCVE President in advance of Council meetings.
- Contribute editorial content on standards to the ISCVE Secretariat for publication in the Newsletter.
- Liaise with the Training Committee to ensure ISCVE training courses reference relevant standards.
- Promote good relations with national and international standards bodies.
- Work with the Secretariat to meet BSi and other Standards committees’ deadlines and ensure feedback and recommendations are submitted in the correct format.
- Poll ISCVE membership on proposed amendments to standards where required.
- Act as spokesperson for the Standards Committee, ensuring the committee functions efficiently.
- Seek the guidance of Council on any issues that may be controversial or require wider input.

Note
This is a voluntary role. The Chairperson will not receive financial remuneration but will gain the opportunity to network at the highest level of the industry, influence standards development and enhance their professional profile.
