Apprenticeships and Levy Funding
Apprenticeships and Levy Funding
This article is the first in a three-part series forming part of ISCVE’s ongoing work to highlight apprenticeships within the sound, communications and visual engineering sector. Developed in partnership with Activate Business School, an Ofsted-rated Good training provider, the series is designed to help organisations understand and make the most of Apprenticeship Levy funding.
Understanding the Apprenticeship Levy
The Apprenticeship Levy is a UK Government initiative designed to help employers invest in skills development and training. While it applies differently depending on business size, it can deliver significant funding support:
- Larger employers – Levy contributions can cover 100% of apprenticeship training costs.
- Smaller employers – Government funding covers 95%, leaving just 5% for the business to contribute.*
These funds can be used to support new apprentices or to upskill existing employees, with training available in areas such as digital technologies, leadership development, and other vital skills for our sector. All training must align with an approved apprenticeship standard, many of which are highly relevant to our Industry.
Working with trusted partners such as Activate Business School, who have supported thousands of learners across more than 70 organisations nationwide, ISCVE will be sharing practical guidance and real-world examples in the next articles in this series.
