VA Fundamentals
An engineer’s introduction to the requirements of the current version of BS5839-8 detailing the requirements for the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of voice alarm systems, along with practical advice and examples.
This Fundamentals course starts from basic PA / acoustic knowledge then builds to detail the concept, planning and integration of the various ‘life critical’ aspects of a design.

Who Should Attend?
If you are involved in specifying, designing or installing voice alarm systems, particularly audio engineers and fire engineers but also fire service personnel, facility managers and system maintainers will gain valuable skills.
Entry Requirements
Attendees should have some experience of installing audio or fire detection equipment or an appreciation of fire risk assessment or provision of evacuation facilities.
CPD Hours / Certification
All delegates will receive a Certificate of Attendance and CPD hours will be awarded.
The course has a multiple-choice test paper with a pass mark; candidates who pass will subsequently be issued with a Pass Certificate.
VA Installation
Attendees of this course will learn how to understand the installation requirements of a VA design and how to carry out a compliment installation.

VA Commissioning and Certification
An Engineering Reference for Verification and Hand-over of BS5839-8 Voice Alarm Systems. This course covers the formal certification path for VA Systems combined with practical advice regarding the system test procedures to prove functionality, adherence to design goals and compliance to Standards.
You Will Learn...
To interpret design documents and recognise the critical features of a VA scheme. Witness satisfactory operation of the VA system in accordance with client requirements. Direct factory acceptance tests to demonstrate functionality. Process documents at each stage leading to final handover.
Who Should Attend?
Those engineers wishing to gain further knowledge and Competency skills in this field – possibly having already taken the Fundamentals course. Client engineering staff responsible for implementing VA systems, facilities administrators, fire risk assessors.
