In this no-nonsense session, terrorism and protective-security specialist Paul Davidson of Team 9 Ltd, and specialist security partner to Howden Insurance, separates fact from fiction. He explains what the new legislation genuinely requires, why too much of the industry chatter (and sales hype) is misleading, and how communication and event professionals can protect clients and reputations without wasting money. Expect myth-busting, straight answers, and clear insight from someone who has advised the very people shaping the law.

He provides expert security risk assessments and compliance guidance to corporations, insurers, and legal partners, helping them mitigate threats ranging from terrorism, cyber extortion to corporate fraud.
Previously, Paul served as a Special Advisor (Terrorism) to the UK Government, providing security and crisis management expertise at the ministerial level, including participation in COBRA briefings. He was a senior leader within New Scotland Yard, where he directed critical operations involving terrorism, cyber threats, and financial crime. Additionally, he led the UK Hostage Negotiation response to international terrorism incidents.
Paul is also an experienced lecturer on counter-terrorism, cyber counter-terrorism, intelligence, and analysis at the Cranfield Defence Academy.
