To qualify as an Engineering Technician, aspiring professionals are required to meet the following criteria:
- Successful completion of an officially approved apprenticeship or a structured work-based learning programme within the engineering or construction sectors.
- Demonstrated relevant qualifications and/or apprenticeships that have been accredited or officially approved by a recognized licensing body, accompanied by substantial practical engineering experience.
- Possession of a qualification in engineering or construction at Level 3 (or higher) within the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), or an equivalent standing from recognized national or international frameworks, supplemented by pertinent practical experience.
How do I Apply
To achieve registration, you will need to demonstrate both competence and knowledge, aligned with the UKSpec EngTech Standard. Your application will require presenting evidence of your capabilities.
To effectively demonstrate competence, you should be able to illustrate:

To achieve EngTech registration, candidates must demonstrate the requisite knowledge and understanding through one of the following pathways:
- Approved Apprenticeship or Work-based Learning:
Successfully complete an apprenticeship or a structured work-based learning program, endorsed by a Licensee. - Approved Qualifications with Work Experience:
Possess an engineering or construction qualification, approved by a Licensee, at a minimum of:
Level 3 (or above) within the Regulated Qualifications Framework, or theNational Qualifications Framework for England and Northern Ireland.
Level 6 (or above) within the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework.
Level 3 (or above) within the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales.
This must be complemented by appropriate professional work experience. - Equivalent Qualifications or Apprenticeships:
Hold qualifications or apprenticeships deemed equivalent by a Licensee, or at a comparable level within a relevant national or international qualifications framework, supported by suitable work experience.
