ISCVEx 2026 Warren Barnett Seminar: Specifications – Truth or Lie?
ISCVEx 2026 Warren Barnett Seminar: Specifications – Truth or Lie?
In our second seminar for ISCVEx 2026 Mark Bailey unpicks product specifications from manufacturers so that buyers can make informed decisions in his presentation:
Specifications – Truth or Lie?
As AV professionals we are subjected to specifications that are clearly misleading. While some may be just amusing (5000W from your portable HiFi or similar), others may be harder to spot and have potentially more serious consequences. How can a manufacturer show their credentials reliably? How can a customer make an informed decision? This seminar will explore some of the areas of audio we are often concerned with, but unsure of how much to believe.
Mark is an Electroacoustics graduate from the University of Salford and started his career designing and planning systems for stadia and entertainment venues – and even occasionally the products used in them. He was key to the launch of Smaart in Europe and for transitioning users of JBL’s CADP2 modelling software to the AFMG EASE platform.
While technical, most of his career has been more commercially focused and he has provided notable sales success at Harman and QSC. Mark has presented on, among other things, line array deployment, subwoofer arrays, and even how our attraction to music can be analogous for our attraction to one another.
He is always interested to talk about Acoustics and AV, only sometimes getting sidetracked by sailing or an amateur interest in linguistics.
The ISCVEx 2026 Seminars are open to both ISCVE members and non-members alike. We welcome anyone interested in attending this insightful seminar to register their attendance.
