GivingBack.tech launches responsible repurposing scheme for AV industry
A new initiative, GivingBack.tech, has launched to help the AV industry repurpose surplus equipment while supporting charities and community organisations across the UK.
Developed by Together for Cinema, an ISCVE partner, the scheme builds on its work delivering AV solutions for care and community environments and introduces a simple platform connecting industry donors with verified good causes.
Bridging the gap between surplus and need
Founded by Ian Morrish, GivingBack.tech was created in response to a clear industry challenge. Charities often lack the budget for professional AV equipment, while companies frequently replace equipment that still has a useful lifespan.
The platform enables organisations to list surplus, B-stock or discontinued products, giving them a second life where they are genuinely needed.
“GivingBack.tech provides a simple way to connect deserving causes with free equipment, ensuring it is put to good use rather than going to waste,” says Morrish.
Supporting sustainability and social impact
The initiative supports more sustainable practices across the AV sector, helping reduce landfill while contributing to social value and ESG goals.
For businesses, benefits include:
- Reduced WEEE costs
- Freed-up storage space
- Enhanced sustainability credentials
- Positive community impact
Industry backing
Crestron has joined as the first Founding Partner, highlighting strong early support for the scheme and its long-term potential.
Get involved
GivingBack.tech is now inviting ISCVE members and the wider AV community to get involved by registering as donors and listing available equipment.
