The Role:
As a Mechanical CAD Designer, you will produce accurate and detailed CAD drawings and models to support the design and development of mechanical products and systems. You will primarily work on designing sheet metal enclosures, mounting brackets, and components for our electronic products. Working closely with our Manufacturing and R&D teams, you will contribute to creating high-quality mechanical designs for manufacturing and assembly.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Create and revise 2D/3D mechanical drawings and models using CAD software (e.g., Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar).
- Interpret design briefs, technical drawings, and specifications to produce accurate designs.
- Collaborate with engineers, customers and suppliers to develop and refine designs.
- Ensure drawings comply with industry standards, company specifications, and project requirements.
- Manage and maintain an organised library of CAD files and design documentation using Autodesk Vault.
- Contribute to design reviews and offer practical solutions to design challenges.
The Person:
The ideal candidate will need to be self-motivated, confident, have great attention to detail, excellent communication skills and consistently produce high quality work. They should be able to work independently but also be part of a team and enjoy a challenge.
Must have:
- Proficiency in 2D & 3D CAD software such as Inventor, AutoCAD or equivalent. Converting CAD files to Autodesk Revit Families would be desirable.
- Proficiency in Vector image editing software such as Corel Draw, Adobe Illustrator, or equivalent.
- Experience in producing 2D/3D mechanical drawings for manufacturing and assembly.
- Knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes (e.g., sheet metal, fabrication).
- Ability to interpret and create technical drawings according to BS/ISO standards, which includes BS8888.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
