Richard King Systems Delivers Audio-Visual Solution for The Lighthouse Church, Heswall
The completion of The Lighthouse Church in Heswall, Wirral, marks the culmination of a nine-year journey to create a brand-new place of worship, service, and hospitality. The former 1960s building had become outdated, with a growing list of costly repair needs. Rather than continuing to patch things up, the decision was made to invest in building the church the community truly needed.
In 2022, delegated members of the church’s project steering group carried out a rigorous selection process to appoint a sound and audio-visual specialist. After careful consideration, ISCVE Registered Installer, Richard King Systems (RKS), was appointed at the end of the year.
Working in close collaboration with the church, RKS designed and installed several integrated systems. These included premium-quality sound and AV installations for the main worship area, supported by an audio loop system; a combined TV, sound, and loop system for the church hall; and a sound and announcement system for the café.
Using advanced computer modelling, RKS was able to evaluate loudspeaker combinations to ensure the required evenness of coverage, frequency response, and power output. The system was designed to meet a diverse brief—capable of everything from crystal-clear speech reinforcement to full-range live band performances.
The main loudspeaker system, from JBL exceeds performance expectations while blending sympathetically with the interior architecture. The in-house system includes on-stage monitor speakers and outputs for in-ear monitoring. The main worship area system is flexible, with the wheeled control console being able to be operated from either the back of the worship space, or a side room when the whole floor space is required.
The church’s prominent, fully glazed frontage onto Heswall’s main high street makes it a visible and inviting presence for the local community
