Crystal Clear Sound for Mallorca’s Bierkönig with L-Acoustics A Series

The legendary Bierkönig venue in Playa de Palma, Mallorca, has completed a major renovation of its 1,250m² “Neuer Bereich” main hall, home to up to 2,000 guests nightly. To solve long-standing issues with uneven coverage and undefined sound, integration specialists RheinlandAkustik, working with L-Acoustics Certified Partner Babbel & Haeger, were tasked with delivering a world-class system capable of both high SPL and precise control to avoid disturbance to neighbouring properties.

Overcoming Architectural Constraints
The hall’s low ceilings, balcony, numerous columns, and changing heights made traditional central hangs impossible. A decentralised loudspeaker configuration was developed using L-Acoustics Soundvision acoustic modelling. This allowed precise simulation of coverage patterns around obstacles and across varied audience levels. The A Series’ Panflex technology proved critical, enabling adjustable directivity to target listening areas while reducing spill.

System Design & Components
The final design incorporates four distributed PA lines combining A15i Focus/Wide and A10i Wide cabinets, supported by a network of X8i and X12 monitors for FOH, stage, and DJ booth. Sub-bass is reinforced by six KS21i units, including cardioid setups and centrally flown delay subs for low-frequency control. Outdoor terraces and VIP areas are covered with dedicated X8i units.

Networked Operation
Powered by LA7.16i amplified controllers, with an LC16D handling MADI-to-Milan conversion, the installation runs entirely on Milan-AVB networking. This ensures robust reliability, easy signal distribution, and scalability for future expansion. A customised control matrix with app-based interface simplifies day-to-day system management for venue staff.
