NEXO Outdoor Audio System Enhances Singapore’s Iconic Lantern Rooftop Bar
A new NEXO sound system has been installed at the Lantern rooftop bar in Singapore, delivering high-quality audio performance across one of the city’s most recognisable hospitality destinations while meeting the challenges of an outdoor environment.
Located on the sixth floor of the five-star The Fullerton Bay Hotel Singapore, Lantern takes its name from the historic Chinese reference to Clifford Pier and offers panoramic views across Marina Bay and the Singapore skyline. The venue combines open-air and covered terrace areas surrounded by greenery, creating a premium rooftop setting for dining, cocktails and live DJ performances.
The recent audio upgrade was designed to provide consistent sound coverage throughout the venue while maintaining the bar’s luxury aesthetic and ensuring long-term reliability in Singapore’s demanding climate conditions.
Working alongside local systems integration partner Electro-Acoustics Systems Pte. Ltd., the team at Yamaha Music Singapore specified a NEXO system using loudspeakers from the EN54-rated ePS Outdoor range, complemented by compact ID Series speakers for additional coverage within seating areas.
According to Joseph Edward from Yamaha Singapore’s Professional Audio Product Sales and Marketing Division, the system was carefully configured and tuned to ensure even audio distribution across the venue while avoiding hotspots and dead zones whilst staying compliant with local noise control requirements.
The installation was designed to support a wide range of venue requirements, from relaxed sunset sessions through to higher-energy evening performances, delivering clear vocal reproduction, controlled low frequency performance and immersive music coverage throughout the rooftop space.
Outdoor-rated components were selected to ensure reliable operation despite exposure to heat, humidity and rain, while the discreet speaker placement helped preserve the sophisticated visual design of the venue.
The project highlights the increasing importance of audio design within premium hospitality environments, where sound plays a key role in shaping atmosphere and overall guest experience.
