ISCVE Supporting Member Ampetronic, together with Listen Technologies, has announced the installation of Auri™, its Auracast™ broadcast audio assistive listening solution, at Brighton railway station – the first permanent Auracast™ installation at a UK railway station.

The new system enables passengers with compatible Auracast™-enabled hearing aids, cochlear implants, headphones and earbuds to receive live station announcements directly to their personal devices. By delivering clear audio directly to listeners, the system helps overcome the challenges of noisy transport environments, improving speech intelligibility and accessibility for people with hearing loss.

The installation has been funded by Greater Thameslink Railway (GTR) for use across Southern, Thameslink and Gatwick Express services operating from Brighton station. The project follows a successful trial of the technology at Bristol Temple Meads station and represents a key step towards making public transport more accessible through next-generation assistive listening technology.

As well as supporting passengers with hearing loss, Auracast™ broadcast audio can also benefit people who are neurodiverse, have visual impairments or require language interpretation, helping a wider range of travellers access important travel information more clearly.

The installation uses Auri™ TX2N two-channel transmitters, which broadcast station announcements throughout the station with minimal infrastructure changes and no disruption to railway services. Passengers simply select the available Auracast™ broadcast on their compatible device in much the same way as connecting to a Wi-Fi network, allowing them to receive clear announcements directly to their ears.
