Natural-history recording, live broadcasting and more than 100 professional audio brands take centre stage at the IPS Pro-Audio Show in London on 10 October.

The IPS Pro-Audio Show has announced the first sessions in its 2026 talks programme, taking visitors behind the scenes of sound production for the BBC’s Blue Planet III, Apple TV’s Earthsounds and the BBC Proms.

Organised by the Institute of Professional Sound, the free one-day event returns to London South Bank University on Saturday 10 October, bringing together professionals working across film, television, broadcast, radio, recording, live events, games and education.

The show now has 41 exhibitor pitches occupied, with more than 100 professional audio brands set to be represented.

From field recording to Blue Planet III

Sound recordist Ellie Williams and sound editor Jonny Crew will present From Field to Post: Natural History in the Making!

The session will explore how closer collaboration between production and post-production sound can shape natural-history filmmaking, drawing on their work for Apple TV’s Earthsounds and the BBC’s Blue Planet III.

Behind the sound of the BBC Proms

BBC technical producers Matilda Macari and Joe Linehan will follow the journey of a BBC Proms broadcast from the Royal Albert Hall to audiences at home.

They will explore the process of rigging the venue, selecting stage microphones, managing the outside broadcast operation and delivering the final programme to air.

Macari has worked across classical and popular music, including Glastonbury, the BBC Proms, royal occasions and Maida Vale sessions. Linehan works with BBC Radio Outside Broadcasts across the Proms, Choral Evensong, Radio 4 and UK music festivals.

IPS Pro-Audio Show coordinator Ian Sands said:

“The show has always been about bringing together people who work in very different parts of professional sound, and this year’s talks really demonstrate that breadth. From capturing sound in some of the most challenging natural-history environments to broadcasting live music from the Royal Albert Hall, these sessions give visitors a chance to hear directly from the people doing the work and understand the decisions behind what audiences eventually hear.”

The event will also welcome The Cinema Museum, which is based close to London South Bank University and is campaigning to secure the future of its historic home.
