ISCVE Mark Faulks Advanced Principles of Networking 600x300 Image 2022

A busy two days Network Training by ISCVE at Audiologic

This week has been a busy one for ISCVE with two training sessions being held on the Principles and Advanced Principles of Networking at Audiologic, Harlow. Both training courses were presented by Mark Faulks MInstSCVE BSc(hons) MBCS, an experienced IT and AV professional and ISCVE trainer, with each course lasting one day.

Thanks to the efforts of ISCVE’s Colleeen Heard, ECS Scheme Administrator and Sarah Hall, Training Administrator and a willingness from ISCVE members and non-members to attend, both courses were completely oversold for both days.

All attendees were awarded certificates at the end of each day and as both courses are CPD accredited, attendees were able to rack up points towards their personal development plans.

Principles of Networking – Day 1

The first day’s course covered the basics of networking, including an introduction to network topologies, types of networks, and network components. The course explains what a network is and how it works, demonstrates how to connect devices to a network and provides attendees with the knowledge and skills to work with networked devices.

Attendees also learned about network layers, media layers and ethernet, host layers and IP, configuring and troubleshooting IP as well as. explaining other link layer technologies. The day ended with a look at building and joining networks and more advanced topics.

Advanced Principles of Networking – Day 2

The second day of the course, built upon concepts covered in the first day’s session, gave a more in-depth look at the advanced features of networking used to help create high quality networks, such as those required for Networked Digital Audio.

Attendees learned about the different types of wireless networks, performance testing, network optimisation, fault tolerance and monitoring. They also had the opportunity to explore applications and use in audio and video applications.

ISCVE’s networking training courses are designed to give attendees a solid understanding of the basics, as well as more advanced concepts of networking and are relevant for anyone working in AV, audio or communications and are especially useful for those who are looking to add to their existing knowledge base.

Feedback from attendees was positive, ‘Mark was very enthusiastic, friendly and helpful‘, comments Giles Parmer, Clarity UK . Mark Barnes from Apetronic added, ‘the quizzes were useful and helped solidify knowledge‘.

Whether you’re just starting out or you’re already a seasoned pro, the courses have something to offer everyone and we’re already planning our next schedule courses, so stay tuned for more information!

A big thank you to everyone who attended, to Audiologic for hosting these events over both days and to ISCVE trainer Mark Faulks.
