The Institute of Sound, Communications and Visual Engineers is delighted to report its Annual Members’ Day, held completely online for the very first time last week, proved to be a big hit with members of the ISCVE and with non-members too.

Incorporating the more traditional formalities of the AGM, this year’s online event also featured two seminars from leading industry figures, which were very well attended by members of the ISCVE and other industry personnel.

“As this was the first time we had held this event online we truly did not know what to expect. We anticipated and hoped for a good take up from our members but during the course of the day more than one hundred people signed in, via Zoom, to either the AGM, each of the seminars or all three, which was just outstanding”, comments Helen Goddard, President, ISCVE.

“We were able to take care of more formal matters including live polling and voting for Council members using Zoom and a particular highlight for me occurred during the first of our presentations when Liam Hayter from Newtek demonstrated the abilities of ‘AV over IP using NDI’ with the Guild Hall orchestra members performing simultaneously without missing a beat from four different locations over IP, brilliant’, adds Goddard.

The event was managed using Zoom technology by EMCd Europe on behalf ISCVE and ran completely seamlessly with a mixture of panellists, live and video presentations, polling and live Q&A’s from both panellists and attendees.

“Our second seminar ‘Brexit and the implications for our Industries’ by Andy Simmons, Nexo and Andy Lewis, Audiologic was followed by a lively Q&A session with the presenters answering with real insight from their own businesses perspectives and experiences of the last twelve months or more. Again, it was brilliant, totally illuminating and engaging”, concludes Goddard.

During the AGM a presentation of an Honorary Fellowship of the Institute was made to Phil Price ‘virtually’. The presentation from the Institute was made in recognition of Phil’s ‘exceptional contribution to the Institute over many, many years’.

In accepting his award Phil Price, a little overwhelmed added, “Wow, I’m absolutely lost for words, I love the Institute, I love the Industry, it has been my life since I left school, I’m truly honoured, thank you so very much, I really mean that’.

Helen Goddard wrapped up this year’s event with a summary of all of the achievements of the last year by the Institute and its members with an optimistic outlook for the year ahead, in spite of the difficulties everyone has faced.
