Association Partner Update: Production Futures – Championing the Next Generation of Talent
At ISCVE, we are proud to collaborate with organisations that are committed to shaping the future of our industry. One such partner is Production Futures, whose mission is to connect young people with opportunities in entertainment production.
Now in its third year, Production Futures has delivered 15 live events and welcomed over 15,000 visitors – introducing fresh new talent to the creative and technical sides of live events, AV and production. With an engaged digital following of over 44,000, the initiative is clearly resonating with the next generation.
Shining a Light on Industry Pathways
Production Futures is committed to making our industry visible – a mission that has never been more important. With 1 in 8 young people currently unemployed or in training, and only 34% choosing university, there is a clear need for alternative career pathways. Yet the appetite is there: the BBC, for example, receives 47,000 applications for just 300 apprenticeship places annually. It is a strong signal that young people are looking for creative careers – they just need better access.
A Growing Digital and Community Movement
On June 21, Production Futures will launch a new online community space, a virtual home for young people, freelancers and industry partners to connect, learn and grow. Beta testing is currently underway, with early access available to partners and members through May and June.
Also returning this year are the Breakthrough Talent Awards, with nominations open from 1 June to 30 September – a fantastic opportunity to celebrate emerging talent across multiple disciplines. ISCVE supported this initiative by sponsoring two categories in 2024: Audio Newcomer of the Year and AV Newcomer of the Year, part of our commitment to recognising and nurturing rising stars in our field.
Digital Impact and Marketing Momentum
Recent figures show just how rapidly interest is growing:
- 31% increase in social followers
- 282% increase in accounts reached
- 7,012 pre-registrations for recent events
This growth in engagement is fuelling a wider community-building strategy, focused on social media, email marketing and collaborative campaigns with partners like ISCVE. The goal – To turn passive interest into active involvement and ultimately, long-term career journeys.
Listening to Freelancers: What They Need Most
Production Futures continues to listen closely to its audience. Freelancers and young professionals have identified key needs: resources for financial literacy, stronger networking opportunities and meaningful professional development. There’s a growing interest in premium content- especially when it delivers real value.
We encourage all members to explore how they can get involved – whether through nominations, mentorship, content contributions or simply helping to spread the word.
