Inaugural Get Ahead Event from ISCVE very well received
ISCVE’s inaugural Get Ahead Event for members recently took place recently at Buro Happold, 17 Newman Street, London, W1T 1PD, whilst being simultaneously broadcast live online to a large number of pre-registered attendees.
The Get Ahead event, taking place for the first time on ISCVE’s busy calendar, included three engaging presentations from a number of different presenters, highlighting topics for ISCVE members to discover, learn and get up to date with the latest standards, technologies and ideas from some of the industry’s experts.
The first presentation titled Bluetooth LE Audio used as Assistive Listening Systems was centred around key topics, learning from the success and challenges of existing technology, highlighting use of Auracast as an Assistive Listening System and included comments from user experiences of current and future Assistive Listening Systems (ALS). All ably presented by Peter Roe FInstSCVE, ISCVE Training Presenter, Russell Simpson MInstSCVE, Hearing Loop/Bluetooth Specialist and BSI committee member and Andrew Thomas, Chairman IHLMA.
The second presentation BS5839-8 Public Address & Voice Alarm (PA/VA) was delivered by Andy Scott FInstSCVE Chair of BSI/FSH/12/5 and provided an overview of the BSI standards process including scope and key comments in the soon to be published revision of BS 5839-8, the Code of practice for the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of voice alarm systems.
The final presentation of the day was titled, Update and use of POE and VOIP for loudspeaker distribution systems and was presented by Peter McKeag, a Network Applications Specialist. His presentation included an introduction to VOIP EN54 compliant IP based PA/VA systems, IP speaker introduction and Integration with PAVA system, ONVIF, VMS, Typical Applications, the Benefits / Limitations of IP based solutions, EN54 – in particular looking at possibilities, technicalities and standards (active speakers are not yet considered, however they are under review) and Cyber Security.
All three presentations were followed by three lively Q&A sessions from those in attendance and attendees watching online. Lunch for all in-person attendees was also included and provided an opportunity for them to mingle and continue the discussions.
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of our wonderful presenters on the day, the team at Buro Happold for allowing us the use of their fabulous offices, Transact Technology Solutions for providing the audio-visual equipment and microphones and finally BSB (Sound) for live streaming this event.
