Midwich Supports University Research into Headphone Listening Experience
ISCVE Supporting Member Midwich is encouraging industry professionals, colleagues and music listeners to take part in a university-led listening study exploring how people experience music through headphones.
The research has been developed by Jake Pendlebury, one of the audio specialists at Midwich, as part of the University of Derby MSc Audio Engineering programme. The project aims to help improve the way people listen to music on headphones through a series of structured listening tests focused on audio perception and listener experience.
Participants are first guided through a short calibration stage before completing the listening assessment itself. The study is designed to gather feedback on headphone listening perception and user experience across a range of listening conditions and playback scenarios.
The listening test can be completed using Android mobile devices, tablets, laptops or desktop computers. Unfortunately, the current platform does not support iPhone or iPad devices.
Participants are encouraged to complete the study in a quiet environment where possible to ensure the most accurate listening experience and results.
Those wishing to take part can access the listening test here:
