As with most professional bodies, ISCVE require members to review their Continued Professional Development (CPD), to help maintain and enhance knowledge and skills, and thereby contributing to raising competence in our industries.

CPD is about planning, doing and reflecting, rather than how many hours you can record.   It is about setting goals and registering what you need to learn to achieve those goals, then keeping brief records and reflecting on the outcomes that are achieved and what needs to be done differently when you next review them.

CPD doesn’t have to be formal training – that is a big misunderstanding.  There are a whole range of things you can do that will help you develop your knowledge, understanding and skills.

Here are just a few examples:

  • Work experience, particularly new projects or initiatives
  • Volunteering in a professional capacity
  • On-the-job training
  • Completing qualifications
  • Short courses and workshops
  • Private studying such as reading or research
  • Mentoring and coaching
  • Writing and delivering a training course
  • Attending events and conferences
  • eLearning via webinars or distance learning and so much more

Within the Members’ Only Area of the ISCVE website, ISCVE provides a number of CPD activity and review templates to help you, alternatively you can also submit other documentation that you might already use.

For ISCVE members, completed documents can be uploaded to your www.myiscve.org.uk portal for safe keeping. This also helps us identify any listed goals that require our help and means we have documented evidence when completing our annual audits.

If you would like to undertake CPD training with ISCVE or record any activities you have already undertaken but are unsure how, contact ros@iscve.org.uk or colleen@iscve.org.uk
